Two friends meet...
A. Hey..
B. Oh hi..hey!
A. Did you hear about the Virginia Tech killings?
B. Yeah, terrible, eh?
A. What do you think makes a person do a thing like that?
B. Well, I can't imagine! It's too difficult to think about.
A. Do you think it's out of some frustration or something?
B. Yeah, probably he was unbalanced or something...
A. Unbalanced is right..he's a long way off!
B. But he's only one in a million...normal people don't behave like that!
A. Well, I think it depends on who they are offending against.
B. What do you mean?
A. Well, if you offend like that guy did, we're all outraged, but if you spit on my shoes for example, only I am upset and I might tell you off depending how much I think you meant to do it or whether it was a mistake...
B. So..?
A. Well, I just think a small thing could really outrage someone and for good reason.
B. I don't understand. What are you driving at? Most people don't get ticked off if you only do a little thing to them..
A. What if you are perfect and you want to show your real character...I think you would be entitled to be mad at anyone who did the slightest thing to offend you...
B. So you're talking that God stuff again?
A. Yes and I think that this guy only showed what it is possible to do because of sin in people's hearts.
B. Oh no, not another sermon!
A. No, just to say it's no use people saying they don't understand how anyone could do such a thing when we know all the time no one is perfect except God, and only he has the right to set the standards. We hear Franklin Graham reported as saying that he had no idea how to answer these people who have suffered the loss of their loved ones. This is not true. What he actually said is reported by an NBC TV6 channel: "BOONE, N.C. The Reverend Franklin Graham says the massacre at Virginia Tech is a tragic reminder of the evil that people can do to others and "is ultimately a reflection of the condition of the human heart." http://www.wluctv6.com/Global/story.asp?S=6379018&nav=81AX

He reminds us that sin is in the world and especially in people's hearts and that's the explanation why these things come about. Jesus came to change all that and to make us different. He gives power to change us for good. There, I've finished now...
B. Well, you could be right, but I will still say this guy's an oddball.
A. I agree with you, but any of us is capable of doing horrible things and indeed all of us offend the law every day. Human answers to such things just don't work. They never have.
B. Hope it never happens again...
A. So do I!
